Wellspring Community News: October 2017

Prakash Younger‘s first book, Boats on the Marne: Jean Renoir’s Critique of Modernity was just released by Indiana University Press. Olivia Kate Cerrone is appearing in the Four Stories reading series on Thursday as part of Boston’s annual Lit Crawl. Olivia will also be appearing at the Boston Book Festival this Saturday. Patricia Fargnoli‘s fifth book, Hallowed: New and Selected Poemswas published in September, 2017 by Tupelo Press, some of the poems from which were written here at Wellspring House. Barbara Blatner was delighted to spend time in Spoleto Italy at La Mama Umbria’s International Playwrights Retreat this summer. Joan Michelson‘s collection of poems,Landing Stage, was published by SPM Sentinel Books, UK in 2017. Cheryl Fish‘s short story “Strike-Slip Fault” will be published in Iron Horse Literary Review issue 19.4. Three of her poems will appear in the next issue of the journal Hanging Loose, and two poems will appear in the journal New American Writing. She gives thanks to the wonderful atmosphere at Wellspring House. Sarah Browning, co-founder and Executive Director of Split This Rock (and daughter of Wellspring Director Preston Browning) launched her poetry collection Killing Summer last week, out now with Sibling Rivalry Press. Writer-in-Residence Jonathan Escoffery‘s story collection is a finalist for the SFWP Literary Awards 2017. He was also selected to present at GrubStreet’s Muse & the Marketplace Conference in Boston next April. Writer-in-Residence Sarah Colwill-Brown signed with literary agent Robert Guinsler of Sterling Lord Literistic. Wellspring Director Preston Browning appeared at the Forbes Library’s Indie Author Day to talk about his latest book,Struggling for the Soul of Our Country.
