Resident Writers

In 2017, Wellspring House established a fellowship designed to offer emerging writers the opportunity to live and work at Wellspring and assist the Director in running the retreat. John Howard and Aubrey Crosby are the Writers-in-Residence for 2019-20.

Aubrey Crosby holds degrees from Siena Heights University (B.A.), the University of Toledo (M.A.), and is currently earning her Ph.D at Kent State University. She teaches composition courses at several mid-Western universities and is the Program Coordinator for the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing.  Her poems have appeared online and in print in The Quill Magazine (2014), Toledo Poetry Project (2014), Eclipse (2014, 2019), Harbinger Asylum (2019), Barnhouse (2019), Exit 7 (2020), and she was also being featured as part of Cuyahoga County Library’s National Poetry Month celebration (April 2019). She currently lives at Wellspring and is at work on a collection of short stories.

 

John T. Howard

John T. Howard holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Indiana University.  He is originally from Long Island, New York, and is the Assistant Director for the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing. From 2018-19, John served as a Visiting Writer at Siena Heights University, where he also served as Managing Editor for Eclipse, an arts and literary journal produced by undergraduate students. He has worked as a toy designer, a trademark researcher, and a bar back. He is currently at work on a collection of short stories and a novel that explores his own Colombian heritage through the vantage point of a Colombian-American narrator growing up on the East Coast.
