Applications for the Wellspring House Retreat Fellowship are now closed. The deadline for the 2019 Fellowship was April 15, 2019. Finalists will be notified by May 15, 2019, and the chosen applicant will be announced no later than June 1, 2019.
About the Fellowship
The Fellowship provides housing and a monthly stipend of $2,000 to an emerging writer, for a term of six months to a year. Fellows have their own bedroom and workspace at Wellspring House, a gorgeous retreat for writers and artists nestled on the edge of the Berkshires, in the village of Ashfield, MA.
Duties include: booking rooms, responding to resident requests, marketing Wellspring House via social media, newsletters, and the website, occasionally picking up residents from nearby travel centers, some clerical work, some editorial work, watering plants, collecting mail, maintaining compost and recycling systems, bringing in wood from the wood shed in the fall, shoveling snow from the path to the house and back stairs, and running occasional errands. In addition, the fellow will be expected to tend to other small tasks necessary for maintaining an attractive and inviting center where writers write and painters paint, such as checking on light bulbs and bathroom tissue. The fellow will also be on call in case of emergencies when in residence.
A personal vehicle is preferred but not essential. Unfortunately, Wellspring cannot accommodate animal companions.
