All applications to Wellspring House must be made via the application form. We are inclusive of all artists and scholars, regardless of genre and field, at all levels and career stages. In order to maintain an atmosphere of creative focus and an environment that engenders community among artists, it is important that all Wellspring House residents are committed to their artistic or scholarly practice. Your application, therefore, should demonstrate your seriousness of purpose.
The application form will request the following:
- A cover letter, demonstrating your experience as an artist, your commitment to your artistic practice, and the project you intend to pursue at Wellspring.
- A resume or artist CV.
- A sample of your work.
- Your preferred residency dates.
- Your space needs: whether you need a single or a double room.
- An emergency contact.
We aim to assess and respond to your application as quickly as possible. Please wait a period of three weeks before sending a follow up e-mail.
At Wellspring, a week begins on Saturday, and we encourage residents to plan their arrivals for a Saturday whenever possible, though mid-week arrivals are also acceptable. The standard residency period is 1-2 weeks, though residents are also welcome for stays as short as a couple of days, and as long as a month, or longer.
If your application is accepted, 50% of the total cost of your residency is required to secure your reservation. For room fees, please click here. After receiving a notification of acceptance, you can mail a check for the deposit to PO Box 2006, Ashfield, MA 01330. This deposit is non-refundable. Checks should be made out to “Wellspring House.” The remaining balance is payable via check before the end of your residency.
